Larry Cadman

DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE

My wife Paulette and I lost our son Mitchell in 2012 at the age of 22. We obviously struggled with this unexpected tragedy and immediately sought help with The Compassionate Friends of Ottawa. After attending monthly meetings for four years I became a Facilitator. January of 2019 my wife and I became the Chapter Leader and Co-Leader and continue to give back to grieving parents. Recently I have joined The Compassionate Friends National Board as Director at Large.

In 1982 I joined the Canadian Military and retired after a 21 year career.  I am presently employed with the Canadian Government enjoying my second career but looking forward to retirement.

We have one surviving daughter, her husband, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

My family motto is “ Hold Onto Hope” and I feel that by “giving back” to grieving parents, I can instill hope in others.
